A. Language Usage & Set Books
1- Choose the correct answer from a, b, c or d: (5 marks)
Ten multiple choice items based on the vocabulary & structure in “Advanced English Course Part 2: Vocabulary & Structure” (Half a mark each)
2- Find the mistakes, then correct the sentences: (5 marks)
Five sentences based on the vocabulary and structure in “Advanced English Course Part 2: Vocabulary & Structure” with an error each are provided. The students are required to find the mistake and write the sentences correctly.
(One mark each)
3- Rewrite the following sentences using the words in brackets to give the same meaning: (5 marks)
Five items based on grammatical structures. (One mark each)
4- Answer FOUR only of the following questions: (6 marks)
Students are asked to answer FOUR open-ended questions out of the six questions given, based on the set book “Advanced English Course – Part 1 : Reading and Writing” (6 Marks)
B, Reading Comprehension and Critical Thinking
Reading Comprehension:
5- Read the following passage and then answer the questions:(8 Marks)
a) An unseen text of about 150 words, with FOUR open-ended questions is provided.
b) An unseen text of about 150 words, with FOUR multiple choice questions is provided. (One mark for each question)
Critical Thinking:
6- Choose the best ending for the following paragraph: (2 marks)
One short text of not more than 80 words is given. The final sentence is not complete. Students are asked to choose the best ending.
C. Writing
7- Write a dialogue between ------- (3 marks)
Students are asked to write a dialogue between two people. Each person should speak three times. Greetings are not counted.
8- Write an essay of not less than TWENTY lines on (A) or (B):(6 marks)
Two topics are given and students are asked to write on one topic.
Total 40 ÷ 4 = 10 marks
